Wow !

The overnight train arrived in Aswan from Cairo and we transferred to the Aswan Airport and flew to Abu Simbel. A guide met us and drove us to the sight. You enter the site from the backside and walk around to the front. When it first comes into view it is shocking - just colossal!

Thanks to Unesco, the entire site was cut

into 30-ton blocks, dismantled, lifted and

reassembled 120 miles south of the original location, 65 meters higher and 200 meters back from the river in one of the greatest

challenges of archaeological engineering in history.

was first discovered on the banks of the Nile. The temples and the mountain were moved and reconstructed, saving the site from inundation due to the building of the Aswan Dam on the Nile.

The site was mind-blowing. We drove

back to the airport and flew back to Aswan.

Our Oberoi Cruiser was ready for boarding.
