Chiang Mai
Loy Krathong
&
Lantern Festival

UNMUTE
Two Festivals Celebrated Together
We flew to Chiang Mai, the best place to go for an amazing Loy Krathong
Festival. Loy Krathong and the Lantern festival occur on the same day in Chiang Mai, making it extra magical. Along with releasing lit Krathongs on the water, people light and release lanterns into the evening sky as well.
However, Loy Krathong is celebrated throughout the country. You can head to any body of water to take part in this festival. Thais will go to any river, canal, lake, pond and other bodies of water with a Krathong in hand. Once at the edge of the water, they light candles and incense, put a fingernail clipping or strand of their hair in the Krathong boat, pay their respects to the water goddess, release the Krathong and watch it float away.
U Chiang Mai Hotel Resort
Our group was comfortably lodged, for 4 nights, in this modern Thai Resort Hotel, centrally located within the Old Town City Walls. The hotel was only steps away from the famous "Sunday Walking Street Market". Also, a free all-day breakfast could be enjoyed anytime, anywhere within the resort.

Group Lantern Launch
We hired a mini-van driver to take us to any area where many people would be gathering to send up their lanterns. Ours was a group effort, the lantern
lifted off gently and joined thousands of others in the sky.
